Where are the Bells & Whistles on this site?

There aren't any on this site. A web site should work as an effective tool for you in as simple and effective a manner as possible. The purpose of this site is to introduce you to SCT Group, Inc., what we can offer you, and how we can help.

You won't see any complex CGI-scripted forms to fill out for more information; call or email us and we'll be happy to talk to you personally. You'll also notice an absence of hot-links to related external sites. After getting you to our site why would we encourage you to leave? And if you want to see full-motion or java graphics let us know, we'd be happy to show you some of the sites we've created that require them. We could load this site up with blinking type or "dancing baloney" (an industry term, not ours), but we bet that would only cause you to miss our real message.

All of the latest technological advancements in web design and construction are available to you as our client. We love to use all of our marketing tools to their full potential and advantage. But we never want the method to obscure the message.

How come there's no interesting
"personal favorites" page?

We're not going to devote a lot of our server storage or your cache or browsing time to what our people like and dislike. If you have spare time on your hands it could be interesting to see what an account exec's favorite TV show is, but will that help you decide on the value of an agency?

If you were to read that SCT Group's Managing Partner enjoys growing and cooking (very hot) jalapeno peppers will that give you more trust in the stability of our agency? Our media person's favorite book is Message In A Bottle; is this getting you the best frequency rate for 1999? The fact that the Creative Director sails a Laser and covets a 1965 Pontiac GTO isn't going to assure you that the next press proof will match the Chromalin that you just okayed. And yes, our New Business person teaches courses in water and boating safety, but his aquatic interests aren't going to get you a killer marketing plan.

We'd rather exchange personal tastes with you as we work together to produce the best possible product that you can afford. So you won't see any Personal Favorites pages on this site. Sorry. (By the way the preceding paragraph just saved you 1.2 megs of browser cache and about 5 1/2 minutes of viewing time.)

I'm interested in the tech stuff.
How did you make this site?

We designed what we wanted in 21st Century web technology by turning off all our computers. You see this is how we approach all of our clients' needs. We actually talk to each other and arrive at the goal and look that we need. This involves using things like paper, pencils, books, and a table. It was only after we agreed on a direction and look that we turned on our Power Macintoshes.

Here's the techo-nurd stuff.
The different graphic elements were created in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. They were then assembled in Adobe PageMaker and combined with type to arrive at the look that we hoped to accomplish on each page. This allowed us to design in a less constrained environment than html text or a web authoring program. We then distilled PDF files of each page and made a screen capture of each section through Adobe Acrobat. Again using Photoshop we isolated each image and then optimized it for the web with Adobe Image Ready. The final web assembly and authoring was done in MacroMedia's Dreamweaver. (We have also authored sites in GoLive and PageMill, but this month Dreamweaver seems the latest and greatest to us). Finally we test everything in Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Explorer from our remote UNIX server to get real-time speeds and compatibility.
